There have been numerous tests and polls that have proved that women who have abortions are more prone to mental illness. A New Zealand study in 2004 found that young women who have abortions are more likely to encounter mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. The Christchurch Health and Development Study, which was a study of 1265 children tracked since their birth in the 1970’s, had results that prove the New Zealand study. This study found that out of 500 women, around 41 percent of them became pregnant by the age of 25 and that 90 of them had abortions. Results also showed that 42 percent of the women who had abortions experience major depression. That is double the amount of women who never became pregnant and were suffering depression. The risk of anxiety also doubled in the women who had abortions. This study also proved that women who have abortions are twice as likely to drink dangerous levels of alcohol and three times as likely to be addicted to illegal drugs (“Abortions Cause Severe Depression for Women, New Study
