Abortion is a woman’s right to her body, and no-one should have the right to tell her what she can and cannot do. People argue about the foetus’ right to live, but are we putting the right of an organism that cannot survive on its own, over the woman who has to carry it? In 2015, 50% of adults in the U.S.A considered themselves ‘pro-choice’ and 46% ‘pro-life’. This is the biggest gap there has been. Abortions can be very emotionally taxing and are not cheap, costing NZD$350-500 in the first trimester or more depending the stage. Getting an abortion is not a choice a woman makes easily, but it is a choice she should be able to make.
