Introduction
The most common and accepted form of marriage union in our society is between two individual who love each other, however there are cultures around the world where individuals have multiple spouses. Polygamy is know as a husband taking multiple wives(Conger). An example of a polygamous family in the United States is the Brown family who has a TLC reality show called “Sister Wives”(Dalrymple). The family lives in Utah where it is legal to have multiple wives (Dalrymple).Utah’s history dates back to the time of Mormon pioneer immigrants, their religious beliefs allowed polygamy, which can explain the practice in the state.(Dalrymple). On the other hand polyandry is the practice of a women taking multiple husbands (Conger).There are no reported cases in the United States, there are places around the world were polyandry is common. In this paper I will critique three article related to Polyandry. First is a website article called, Where in the world are polyandrists (women marrying multiple husbands)? by Cristen Conger. Second is a magazine article called, The sense of the father: Evolutionary biology by Economist (Online). The third is a scholarly article called Pacifying monogamy by Lagerlöf, Nils-petter.
