The capital of Poland is Warsaw. It has a population of 38.53 million and it is 120,726 mi² in size. People of Poland are also called poles. Geographical factors had a strong influence on Polish cuisine. Poland is located in a climate zone with cool and barren winters. For that reason traditional polish meals consist of vegetables, fruit and fish because they can be easily preserved and last for 3-4 months. In history Poland repeatedly lost the access of the Baltic Sea because of war. For this reason their cuisine is dominated by fresh water fish. Some typical foods are golabki, which is cabbage leaves stuffed with ground meat and rice. Another popular dish is golonka, which is fresh ham served with horse-radish.
