Beavers must plan her lessons. However, due to it being a pre-k classroom the objectives are not listed, so Mrs. Beavers will explain what the current activity and then what students will do next. Conversely, Mrs. Beavers does not display lesson plans; however, she does create a lesson plan for the week, which explains an activity and the indicator it corresponds with. Also, Mrs. Beavers provides the parents a newsletter explaining what the students are learning, how they can help them practice and upcoming events. Also, Mrs. Beavers designs and goes through the weekly plans with her assistant teacher Mrs. Kline. Mrs. Beavers follows the Pre-k Quarter 1 Pacing Sample and Frederick County Public Schools Quarterly Progression Pre-Kindergarten to plan her lessons and gage her students’ development. In pre-k Mrs. Beavers will provide a check mark if the students work is correct or circle and direct students when they have a wrong answer. However, students receive a grade mark when they are tested upon their knowledge. For example, I got to observe Mrs. Beavers test the students on their ability to repeat a sentence. When a student messed up a word, Mrs. Beavers would record what the student said instead. If a student got any part of the sentence wrong they immediately lost a point. Mrs. Beavers keeps track of their test scores to see how the student is progressing and to share the data with parents. Pre-k students are just beginning to start school; thus, it is important to not discourage them by telling they did poorly on an assignment. Conversely, Mrs. Beavers, silently records the students, to locate their weak points, so she may provide them further practice on the subject or
