Usually, when women see spider’s men are called upon to come and kill them while they are screaming in the background. This is found to start as early as infancy, as we are learning which things are associated with certain emotions. (infants) For the first experiment, eleven-month-old infants through familiarization while sitting in their parents lap. First they were shown a spider, snake, mushroom and flower one at time to see if there was any prior fear. Then these infants were shown various colored photos of spiders for two seconds each. Along with each picture of a spider a happy or sad face was also displayed. They were then also shown pictures of flowers and mushroom along with happy and fear faces for two seconds each. The trail was run two times switching between the spider and happy face and the spider and fear face. The experiment tested to see which gender reacted the most to the fear relevant pictures. The results of this experiment showed that girls looked significantly longer when a snake was paired with a particular face rather than when a flower or mushroom was compared with the same face. For the boys this effect was not found. (infants) It is shown that in the pretest females are already starting to recognize the fear face and associate it with relevant fear
