I had visited Ethiopia last summer and got in contact with an orphanage that helped kids go to school. I returned determined to make sponsoring one of these children a reality. It's a huge responsibility because each child requires $500 a year, and it’s a multi-year commitment, but I knew that it was achievable. I thought that it would be a great idea to turn our greatest asset into a way to raise money for a good cause. I planned an event with my peers, and this year we’re going to host a community event called “Culture Night” in the spring. Not only will Habesha Leadership perform, but we have gotten commitments from other cultural clubs from Asian expression, to African student Association, to Muslim Student Association.
