Healthy Behavior Analysis

Lifestyle choices, such as nutritional eating, being physically active, and moderately drinking alcohol are all healthy choices. All of these things are considered health enhancing behaviors; which influence our physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual selves (Hayden 2009). The sole purpose of this paper is to reflect on my current health behaviors and choices, whether positive or negative to my health.

In the world today many people have developed habits of unhealthy eating. They are prone to eating unealthy because of the easy access to unhealthy foods. Recently I made a drastic change and decided to transform my life. I contemplated and had to take action quick in order to improve my health. At first, my self-image was the prime reason for wanting to become more physically active, but not really considering my health. Now that I have incorporated healthy eating and many physical activities into my daily routine, staying motivated is the key to success. Changing my eating habits is taking a little bit more adjusting to than I thought. But with a little patience and drive I can fight temptation. Currently I try to have three workout sessions during the week with a couple of friends. Whether its bike riding, Zuma dance classes, and even a little jogging around the neighborhood track, I’ve come to realize that having family and friends around keeps me inspired. Even though eating five fruits and veggies a day are recommended, I can honestly admit and say that I have yet to master this eating plan. “Religion is a subject that we encounter daily either because we follow a specific faith and the rules established by it” (Zharku, 2011, pg. 1). Depending on the spiritual faith practiced, religions are based on different principles. It positively affects my health in many ways. Spiritual practices can reduce blood pressure, strengthen the immune system and help maintain a healthy life. Being a true Christian encourages healthy behavior, especially not smoking. Being a true believer, praying also helps motivate and make positive health decisions. Even though it is easy to sin, I can sometimes get side tracked, but it is my faith that keeps me grounded.
