Personal Narrative: The Maumee Bay Incident

Crash! My cousin rode her bike into a bush on accident and fell off. She got up quickly and brushed it off. “Hurry! We have to leave!,” I exclaimed. The bush was dented and broken from where she had fallen in and we rode away quickly so we wouldn’t get in trouble. We laughed about it all the way back to the cottage.
In the summer of 2012, my family was taking a vacation to Maumee Bay in Ohio. My cousin’s family was also going. They have three girls, one girl is one year younger than me, another is three years younger than me, and the other is just a baby. My family drove all the way down, and it seemed to take forever. They rode on their boat all the way to Maumee Bay, where they tied it up. After we arrived and had checked in, we went to our cottage. My cousins, my brother, and I ran around checking the place out. There were lots of rooms, and one bedroom had a bunk bed. “I call top bunk!,” I said. “I call the bottom!,” Nina, the oldest of my cousins there, said. I was so excited because I loved bunk beds when I was younger, and I finally got to sleep on one. Bridget, my cousin that is three years younger than me, and my brother slept upstairs. After we put our bags in our rooms, we went to see what the environment around us was like. There was a nice, large porch that overlooked a small, wooded forest. We found the beginnings of a teepee started by a big tree, and added more pieces to it throughout the week that we were there. Once we had eaten dinner, we went to the main building that all of the cottages were surrounding. They had activities planned for us everyday. We stayed there to watch a movie that night, actually. Since it was still light out, my relatives and I rented bikes and we rode around for a while. This is when my cousin crashed her bike into one of the big bushes in the garden around the main building. She was okay, she only had a few scratches. Everyone had separated while riding around, so I was just with my brother and Nina at the time. We rode to our little cottage that was on a long rode inside the park. My parents were there, and they said we could go down to the beach next to the docks, because my aunt and uncle were there. We raced there, and ran down to the water. Nina and I looked for shells and walked along the beach. After a while, we called it a night and went back to the cottage to go to bed. The next morning was the most special. Nina, Bridget, and I woke up early and rode our bikes to the beach. We brought a blanket and some snacks so we could sit down and watch the sunrise. It was really pretty; the sky was all pink and orange. After a while, we got up and looked for shells. There were hardly any people on the beach yet because

I had been wakeboarding before so I knew how to, but it was my cousin's first time, so it was funny to watch them because they fell a lot. They couldn’t even stand up for a while, and once they would stand up they couldn’t keep their balance and would topple over. We also had a lot of fun tubing. Sometimes, we would play games on the tube, like seeing who could stay on the longest without holding on. After we were tired out , we got to tie dye shirts. We made matching ones, and one they were dry, we wore them for the rest of the day. Over the next few days, we did a lot of the same stuff. On one of our last days there, Nina and I woke up early and rode down to the beach. We were just looking for more cool shells, and I saw one on the cement stairs that went up to the docks. I didn't realize it, but the stairs were covered in algae, and were very slippery. I fell and hit my head. I reach up to touch where I had hit, and I felt blood. Nina saw all of this happen, and helped me get
