Personal Narrative: Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge Journey “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” I asked. My family went to Harrisonburg so we could go camping in a cabin. It was a hot summer August day. “Look! Look!” My siblings all yelled one after the other. Out the car window you could see the ancient blue-capped mountains. The mountains were so blue they looked like a picture with a blue filter. We stopped at an aged brick tavern my dad went to when he was in college. It was magnificent, but the food was stuff like what people ate in Colonial Williamsburg. There were three stores that looked like they were aging too. One was a toy store. It wasn't like a toy store today; it was kind of old fashioned. Another store was a metal smith shop. It had guns that date back to about 1865. There were also bullets that were shot in the Civil War period. The last store was a merchandise store. It had lots of cool but old fashion stuff. Old fashioned candy, journals, quills, ink, pins, and many more things. It was absolutely amazing. We weren’t even arrived to the cabin yet!
When we got to our cabin, we took a look around. There was a chicken coop, a barn, and a very large puddle that we called the “little lake”. It was so beautiful! “OH! AH!” I kept

It was relaxing. When our time ran out, we left the cabin with heavy hearts, wishing to stay longer. On the way home, we stopped at a unique zoo. What made it unique is that you drive through the zoo in you car and feed animals. We rented a trolley and fed bison, elk, llamas, camels, and small deer. We got to see a baby zebra that was born that day! It was so cute. Then we toured the walking part of the zoo. We fed little birds that landed on you for food and only if you had food. We also saw kangaroo, ring-tailed lemurs, giraffes, and many more animals. Then it was time to go home. I knew that we will go back to Harrisonburg because it was so

On the afternoon May 22, 1865, a small band of soldiers from the 22nd and 28th Iowa regiments left their camp. There had been a heavy rain the night before. Their destination was a large peach orchard not far from the rows of white canvas. Some of the men had visited the orchard before. They had discovered a kennel of “bloodhounds,” ferocious animals whom they knew were once used in the pursuit of enslaved people and believed had been placed on the trail of Union prisoners of war.…

In my understanding, that was my command to do. Give selfish treatment to one man but give all credible treatment to the other, who in all shed the same blood fighting. I became deeply distraught by this segregated treatment because of some set value one man has to have just by the color of his skin. In disgust, I still had to do what was meant for me to do. I would work on the black soldiers and a woman named Clara Barton would work on the white soldiers. I grew interest into wanting to know how she felt about this unfair situation, however it was prohibited to step near her or inside the white soldier’s tent.…

November 20th 1990, was the day I started my life at Oak Ridge. The justice system deemed me and my friend Prash to be criminally insane and had sent me to this prison for criminals who are deemed mentally unstable. I took a life of another because my friend Prash told me that person was a terrorist who conspire to harm me. This “Criminal Insane Building” sounds like a frightening place, my lawyer told me it is the only maximum-security health care centre in Ontario and that they would take excellent care of me and my friend. When I entered at Oak Ridge, I saw that this prison only held male prisoners.…

After having fun at Lake Erie, we drove a couple hours to Cedar Lake, India, and then we found the camping grounds. Mom told us we might be there a long while, so we sent up our big ten person tent. Which, really, is only big for 3 people, they must of thought that tem dwarfs could fit in there, not people. The campsite wasn't really that big, but we didn't have to share anything with other campers. We had our own picnic table, and fire pit, and water and electricity.…
