Great Essays
My Thanksgiving vacation could have been more enjoyable. I did very much working over break. Starting from the beginning, on Tuesday after they released us from school, I drove all the way down to Des Moines because I had to work. I am employed at the Des Moines Buccaneers Hockey Arena. My sister Kaylee and I work in the Pirates cove. Buccaneer clothing can be purchased in the cove. It’s a USHL hockey league that boys from ages 16 to 19 play in for scholarships to colleges they have signed to. We stayed to watch the game and it ended as a good one, the game went into overtime with the scored tied 3 to 3. The Capitals scored with 30 seconds left in the second overtime. The game finished around 10:00 P.M. After the game, we met up with my boyfriend, Trevor, to go eat dinner at On the Border. We also went and saw the movie The Night Before. After that, Kaylee and I went back home to relax and sleep before Wednesday. Kaylee and I had to be back to the Bucs Arena on Friday by 8:30 A.M. The Black Friday sale started at 9:00 A.M. From 9 to 11 everything in the cove was marked 20% off, and from 11 to 1, everything in The Cove was marked 10% off. The 10% off went through the night for the game, but we closed down The Cove at 1:00 P.M. so Kaylee and I could have a break. We finally left The Cove to go to lunch around 1:30 P.M. We went to eat lunch at Wasabi Chi. We ate with my cousin Stephanie and her dad Steve. I ordered the Out of Control Roll and Japanese Chicken Fried Rice. The roll has ingredients such as spicy tuna, crab, cream cheese, jalapeno and shiso, lightly fried and served with sweet and spicy sauce. The Japanese Chicken Fried Rice is just lo mein noodles, their

This summer I got my license and took a little adventure. My two friends Cloe, Teya, and I were bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to go to Maryville. We went to Workman’s Chapel, which is right outside of Maryville. Workman’s Chapel is an old haunted church and cemetery. The story behind Workman’s Chapel is that a preacher stabbed a woman in a white dress to death and hid the knife under the floor boards of the church.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…

How are you? I’m sorry that your brother couldn’t make it home for Thanksgiving, I know it must be hard on you and your family. The Plane Ride When I was nine my family started a move from the tranquil suburbs of San Jose, California to the desert city of Windhoek, Namibia, located in southern Africa. My parents were taking myself, along with my younger sister and brother, around the globe because they felt a calling from God to be missionaries. All of our possessions were sold off, including my much beloved toys, until everything we had could fit into eight large suitcases. These suitcases are what we carried to the airport as we prepared for our journey. I felt no small amount of apprehension and excitement in what lay ahead of me in the new country, but an event I would experience in the coming flight would forever change and shape my perspective of how I see the…

Since I was a little kid, I had always had a love for cooking and baking. I would beg my parents for the large toy kitchen sets with the fake plastic food. I would spend all day “preparing” the food and I would “feed” my parents; asking them if the food I made them was tasty. I even had a tea set that my mom had bought me; I adored it, it was a white set that had little flower details on the pot and cups. When I first got the set I would stop all of my family members who passed by me for some “tea” but I soon stopped asking as I would usually get a “No, thank you” from my dad and sister; however, my mom wouldn’t decline me so she became my go-to person for when I wanted to drink tea with someone.…
