I signed up for Free Store, and the number of hours required for this CSL placement is 30 hours with 25 hours of volunteering and 5 hours of writing papers. I contacted Frédérique Rivet to set up my placement, and I attended the first meeting with Frédérique Rivet and other volunteers. I went to volunteer at Free Store on October 6th and October 13th. On October 6th, I received the trainings and I was working with other volunteers on sorting and organizing kitchen items. I also helped with hanging and organizing clothes. Moreover, I helped the customers (university

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

In order to raise money for prom this year, I accompanied the class of 2019, for 5.5 hours, to a west point game and worked in concessions. I had a great experience working with my peers to achieve a goal that would benefit the senior class. Recently I have engaged in service with my church, for 4 hours, helping to move furniture while they were switching locations. From this experience I learned that sacrificing my time for a communal effort may seem minuscule, but ultimately helps increase efficiency. Also I volunteered at the annual Easter egg hunt at memorial park last weekend for 3.5 hours.…

It is not the easiest to find something good to do with a dollar. You can’t even buy anything at the Dollar Tree because with tax, you are spending $1.07. You could buy a Ricker’s soda, I guess, but that’s not really going to make an impact on anyone’s life. With my dollar, I decided to exchange it for one hundred pennies at Payless.…

One essential part of humanity is helping one another. It promotes bonding, togetherness, and love. I have read times and times again in the US and other part of the world, where people stood to help other fellow citizens who have been victims of terrorist attacks, natural disasters, brutality etc. Besides the fact the recipient of a kind gesture feels a sense of gratitude and appreciation, there is a sense of fulfilment on the part of the one who renders the help. This is exactly how I feel as I relive this experience.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…

My project began as a way for me to give back to the community in a way in which I could use my strengths to inspire and teach. Some of the reasons why I began my journey here at J. K.
