I recently completed my first community pharmacy placement with Ashton Pharmacy. On the placement, I could understand how the team works together professionally to provide person-centred care. During the day, I dispensed some medication under supervision and guidance of the dispenser in charge. I was introduced to the different prescriptions that come in daily and shown how pharmacists use the BNF as a reference source to check if the prescribed dose is right for the person who will be taking it. When the pharmacy and staff got busy, I used the BNF to familiarise myself with drugs on the shelves. Many people came into the pharmacy for flu jabs, I used this opportunity to observe and understand the process carried out before and after the administration
