Personal Narrative: My Family Trip To Hawaii

Improved Essays
How can the society we now live in be so flawed? Why doesn't anyone stop to think of anyone else or even do something for another person, just because? Today, I was talking to my mom and she told me that we wouldn't be able to go through with our family trip to Hawaii this December I admit when she first told me I began crying! I had been planning what to wear I even got a new bathing suit just for this trip! After a little explaining, my mom had me in tears, not because we weren't going on some measly vacation to Hawaii, but the reason we wouldn't be able to go. My mom knows a woman who's husband had left her with two kids under the age of 5, the woman had a low paying job and wouldn't be able to afford the bills she was now forced to pay alone so my mother had taken the money that was being saved for our vacation and sent it to her in an unmarked envelope. After hearing this story I stopped to think about how much it would mean to the lady who received it and how thankful she would be, that someone sent her all of that money without asking for a single thing in return. …show more content…
It made me question why more people don't just send out random acts of kindness. I think that while we grow up, in most homes we're installed with the words "treat others how you would like to be treated" and, "kindness is key!" however, I feel that the society we are in today has lost sight of these words. Random acts of kindness are a selfless act preformed by a person or people wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or group of people. Whereas our society is becoming a place of flawed character occasionally committing a random act of kindness can help to rebuild our character and give people hope. With that, starting today I have decided to go around and film random acts of kindness that I have done, or have seen done by a member of the community. So if my YouTube video were to go viral, it would be called, "Giving Someone Hope." It would begin with me explaining why I feel that random acts of kindness are so important followed by the inspirational clips that I have put together. After my explaining, the first clip would go into a video I took the other night at the skating rink where I work. Every Saturday there's a 15 year old bombastic teenage boy by the name of Jason that comes in. He's usually a show off and I often thought his behavior was unbearable, but this night was different. A little boy had fallen, hit his head and when he got up he covered his face and began crying of embarrassment. The teen boy stopped showing off for his friends, and carried the child off the floor. Jason held the little boy for over an hour until it was clear that he was okay. Following that clip, I would use the video I made yesterday while standing in the check out line of my local grocery store. The older woman bagging groceries was special needs and out of no where a gentleman in a suit approached to her. He then handed her a red rose and walked away. As the man leaves, all that

He set down my plate exposing my eyes to three buttermilk pancakes perfectly placed together with a layer of fresh strawberries and a tower of fluffy whipped cream in the middle, sprinkled on top were small bits of nuts and powdered sugar. All I needed now was syrup but what syrup would I choose if there all sounded so good; From Original to Guava to Coconut to Honey Macadamia Nut to Honey Christmas Berry or Honey Rainbow Blossom. Hawaii, the home of white sand beaches, pro surfing, hula dances, and warm weather. If I could move to any region within the United States, I would move to Hawaii with no hesitation. Hawaii contains a prestigious hospital and the opportunity to become a surfer. Both of which of which I have always dreamed of being a part in. Nothing would make me happier than becoming an orthopedic surgeon operating out of a Hawaiian hospital working on shark attack victims and other unlucky victims who need orthopedic repair, then go straight to the beach to surf and relax for the remainder of the day.…

Over the past two months I have spent numerous nights filling yards with flamingos while the families inside slept unknowing of what was happening. I spent a night teeter tottering for six hours and made blankets the day after. When I worked at a grocery store I used to stop during my walk back, and return to buy groceries. These are all things I do nearly out of impulse because of how I was raised and who I am. Growing up I learned from a young age that if someone you know needs something, you give what you can.…

I’ve observed a lot in my 17 years of living, the good, the bad, the happy, and the very sad. Growing up in the inner city areas, of Richmond California, I have seen plenty of starving people struggling to get their next meal. I feel like there’s way too much food in this country for anybody to be starving, and I see so much waste. I’m not talking about someone being hungry, but I’m talking about the people that don’t know where their next meal is going to come from. People who are malnourished, stomachs touching, and who are in desperate need of a meal.…

The best thing I did this Summer was going to Hawaii with my family. We were gone for two weeks and went to two different islands. Maui was our first stop and on our second day, we went scuba diving which was my favorite part of the trip. We saw many different species of fish and saw a shark. Our instructor went right up to the shark to bring it out of its cave and it swam right by us.…
