This quote reveals one of the first American Dreams envisioned in the Declaration of Independence, which specifically is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. An American Dream for an individual can be defined as an envisioned future where one is happy and has what they believe to be a perfect life. First I need to increase my aptitude in certain subject to graduate high school and go to college. Next, I would like to start my career and begin saving my money to become financially stable. After these steps my American Dreams becomes similar to the “White Picket Fence Dream”, I would like to have a stable job making sufficient money to support and provide the necessities of life to a family. I am hoping to make a superfluous amount money to be able to afford a lavish house and enjoy vacations that I have not been able to experience in my adolescent years. To attain my American Dream I need to work extremely hard to keep my patience and get the right education, and I need to do my best to keep my feet on the ground and not get caught up in debt from either college or poor choices. To stay motivated I keep this quote in mind “if you are willing to do more than you are paid to do, eventually you will be paid to do more than you do” by an anonymous author (“44 Successful Quotes to Inspire and Motivate You”). This quote motivates me to do well in all aspect of my life even though I do not get paid, when I am full of anxiety from working hard, I think of this quote and tell myself that one day the struggle will be worth it.
