of course on my list it was family, football, school,i didn't care much about school and thought it was just a waste of my time.Going into 8th grade year i was still set on football but one week before signups my dad broke his spine during his job and that put my whole family into sort of a shock he had worked as a tree climber for about 30 years and not even a sprained pinky happened to him and all of a sudden him getting hurt was just awful that was on of the worst days of my life just coming home and finding a note on my bedroom door saying what happened felt awful i was alone for almost a whole day wanting to see my dad at the hospital but instead i was justing sitting in my bedroom wishing i had someway to get there my whole family had left to see him and i was just there i remember saying to myself “what if this is the last few hours he had left and i wouldn't be able to see him”that thought made me cry.All my coaches were calling me “Antonio why aren't you playing?” “Antonio why aren't you on my roster?” when i told them all what happened they all felt bad when i finally got to see him i realized that i wouldn't be able to play football this year because i would have to watch and take care of him and we wouldn't have the money to help pay my signup fees i realized why school was important i started studying more and doing more things and i also never forgot football i kept perfecting my sport trying to get better everyday so after i was out of highschool i would have some scholarships to fall back on and hopefully get to the league i know thats almost every boy's dream to go to the NFL and be a big star but to me this wasn't a dream this would become true if i work as hard as i can at

I stared in at my catcher, Drew Wessel, beads of sweat fell off my forehead. It was the bottom of the sixth and we were one out away from winning the World Series, he flashed me a two which meant curveball. I checked the runner, got my grip on the ball, and checked the runner again. I lifted my leg and let go of the ball. We were the last game of the tournament, it was August 1st and the daylight was just starting to slip behind the Rocky Mountains in center field.…

The game of baseball has always been in my life since I was a child. My love for the game began when I was five years of age signing up for tee ball at the local little league. As a child, I would imagine myself as a professional ballplayer. I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game.…

The roar of the engine sends my heart racing as I pull out on to the track, one lap around and we are off, trucks at my side as we glide around the turns. The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. It’s funny really because clichés aren’t my thing, however, at times idioms are just the thing to describe a situation or time period in one’s life, for instance the saying that “life is a roller coaster” couldn’t be more fitting for my life. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…

Basketball has been a part of my life as I have played it since I could remember. I was in the school’s team year after year and was even drafted for the team as high school came. However, a bike accident prior to the regional tournament took a toll on my body. The lower pelvic of my right foot was injured and could no longer withstand the stress of playing basketball. All hopes and expectations of playing in the high school team were shattered.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Back in 2014, my sophomore year in high school, was when I first started playing softball. I never thought a sport was going to make a huge impact in my life. I’ve always had a huge passion for sports, but sadly I didn’t join any sports until I got to high school. Not to brag, but I was a good athlete and still am. The very first time I stepped on a softball field, it was love at first sight.…

I knew that I wasn't a quitter and I had to think of a way to make my football Career better. Through the last two years of football I have not been a starter and this made me question my abilities. Even though I showed up to everything and put forth my best effort and I still didn't play. I wondered if I was even good enough to be part of the team, and if the coaches just had favorites.…

THE EIGHT FOOT CIRCLE “Stand up for what you believe in even if that means standing alone”. When I was younger and got my first opportunity to stand up for myself without anyone pushing me to succeed things didn't go as planned. Although I didn't succeeded I took a lesson from it in the end. “Play ball” the umpire called out as we jogged on to the field. Like every game before I headed for third base.…

Vince Lombardi addressed football as, ¨Football is like life - it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and respect of authority¨. Throughout my lifetime I have had many experiences, some great, others, not so great, but no matter what, I have put full effort and commitment with everything that I have done. The most valued experience that I have is football. Football has shaped me into the person I am today and has laid a foundation in which I could build my values on. I started playing the game since I was in grade school. Till this day, the excitement of strapping on my pads and hearing the crack of the helmets has not changed one bit.…

My decision to play this sport would have a lasting impact on me and is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was very nervous yet optimistic about playing football. I had seen it played on television and at high school and college football games, but I just thought that my lack of knowledge about the sport would hinder my performance. I was not the tallest, I was not the fastest, but, I was one of the biggest and strongest players on my team when I began to play. This allowed me…

Have you ever been so wiped out even though you didn't do anything all day but sat and watched a bunch of girls play volleyball, well I felt that way, all day long. We were going to a hotel in Waterloo called Hampton Inn after coming from an extremely boring volleyball tournament that my older sister was playing in. I was really looking forward to doing all the things my mother was telling me about too do in the hotel. The hot tub, the pool, the good breakfast in the mornings, and the best of all is when my mom told us we were going to Olive Garden for supper. I think olive gardens food is the bomb.…
