In 1740 the governor if Georgia, James Oglethorpe was led by King George II to capture Saint Augustine and to remove the Spanish. Oglethorpe in the month of May had equipped the Creek Indians and with a small portion of his army, they attacked Fort Diego. While at Fort Diego, he ordered some of his men to attack Fort Mose (or Mosa or Moosa). The rest of his men went on to attack the fort at Picolata called Fort St. Francis de Poppa also known as Fort Poppa. This attack was lead from the St. Johns River. This Fort was on the shallow intrenchments also made out of coquina. After Oglethorpe captured Fort Poppa without any issues, they moved on to the fort in Saint Augustine, Castillo de San
