Overcoming Obstacles

Many individuals view obstacles as being negative, however, I see obstacles as giving people a chance to practice courage- courage to improve our situation, our world, and ourselves. Since I was a young girl, I have always been very fortunate. I had a mother and father who poured me with their love, two older brothers who defended me, and daily reminders about my schedule. My parents advised me to study for my tests, wash my uniform, and to make my lunch the night before. Within a very short period of time, I abruptly go from a loving family of five to an isolated young girl.
I suddenly felt like an abandoned girl. My two older brothers left for college the same time that my dad had left me. My dad had always worked only an hour away to see me nightly, but one night he came home saying he was fired and needed to find a job quickly. His new job required him to move across the country which would let me see him seldomly. While my dad is working

I get out of my bed, and find my sweaty field hockey uniform from the night before lying on my floor. I quickly remember that today is game day and run to my washing machine to throw in my uniform. I stroll downstairs to eat breakfast and make my lunch. The clock read 7:20 A.M. and my bus comes at 7:35 A.M. I ran upstairs to check on my uniform which is still submerged in water. My bus was arriving shortly, and I didn’t have time to clean and dry my uniform. I rush to my bus stop and make it last minute. I arrive to school with no lunch, uniform, or notebook. School became more demanding as I was the only one home to convince myself to study for a test and complete my homework. After a lengthy day of school and sports, I arrived home with responsibilities around the house. As weeks passed, I started to feel self sufficient. Instead of being asked to study, I was encouraged to study. My responsibilities started to feel

The star of LocoCycle is I.R.I.S, a sentient motorcycle that looks like it is from the Knight Rider era of television shows. IRIS is supposed to serve as a tool for an unscrupulous defense contractor, but after being struck by lightning she decides to attend a freedom rally in Scottsburg, Indiana instead. Pablo, her unfortunate mechanic, gets his pants caught in her chassis so he is unwillingly dragged along for the ride. LocoCycle is clearly inspired by cheesy B movies so don't expect the plot to make too much sense. Trying to figure out how a human being can survive being used as a melee weapon by a motorcycle with martial arts abilities will just lead to a headache.…

Life is like an obstacle course, and there is not one person whose hurdles are jumped for them. This is demonstrated in the Randy Pausch quote, "The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough.…

When most people think of overcoming an obstacle, they think of the physical, something like finishing a difficult project or running a marathon. We are inclined to forget about the mental obstacles, despite the fact that they are often much harder hurdles to leap than the ones you would find on a high school track. I have encountered plenty of real life obstacles, of course, and have met them with success and failure alike. But the one I am most proud of overcoming is not something I could put down on a resume. I managed to overcome my own doubts, and though this took years to accomplish, it left me able to become the person I want to be.…

I have had a lot of things to overcome in my life, some of them worse than others, but when I was in the fourth grade I had to overcome a major obstacle. My great grandpa got really sick around Christmas and had to be put in the nursing home. He was in the hospital for almost six-months and everyone thought he was going to be ok, but one night my mom got a call saying that we needed to come to the hospital quick. My great grandpa had a heart attack while he was asleep and he died. At the time I didn’t really understand how one day someone could be here and be ok and the next day just be gone.…

Every person endures their own unique challenges, but the determining factors that separate some apart from the masses are whether they overcome the endurances posed. The problems that occur during any given person's lifetime are ultimately obstacles and test in a sense because you can either learn or dwell off of the experience. Personally, I have gone through some trying experiences at a relatively young age, but I have decided that continually thriving through the mist of my problems is the only way. A large majority of my outlook on the world is credited to my mother, who told me to continue to excel and achieve the absolute best that the world has to offer before she passed from breast cancer. That has ultimately been my strength and passion for continuing to strive to achieve my greatest potential while…

Success is stambling from failure with no less of enthusiasm. Failing at things can make you loose your confidence. I think this is true because the basketball player Stephen Curry in the finals in 2016 he was up 3-1 and the other team beat the team that was up 3-1. Learning from your mistakes can lead you to success. They want you to mess up, because learning to cope with failure will help overcome larger struggles later in life.…

An obstacle I had to recently over come during this semester of college was that I had a personal conflict with myself. I suddenly lost my motivation to do my work when it was assigned and I started missing class when I hadn’t missed a single class up until that point of confliction. I didn’t see a need to do the work when it wasn’t due for another couple days ahead, so I saved it till the very last day and I would stress and regret my decision because I was in a rush to do it. I didn’t even bother to learn from my mistakes I just continued to do it and my grades could have been better if I stayed motivated.…
