Mr. Wolfe, there are copious amounts of reasons of getting rid of nuclear energy in our state that I think that you should listen to. One reason that we shouldn’t be using nuclear energy is because of radioactive waste which is produced from the use of nuclear energy. Once …show more content…
Nuclear energy, and the use of it, has been used for weapons and items to destroy the Earth, rather than making the world a better place to live in. Using nuclear energy involves strict protocol and huge amounts of responsibility to avoid any major accidents that would devastate the area surrounding the site of the accident. Power plants are common targets for militant and terrorist organizations, and the general security of the compound has always been at risk and of high concern. One mess up from security and someone could take advantage of the mistake, and once they take advantage of the mistake, the fate of the world, depending on the size and destruction rate of the given nuclear components, could be in their hands. Nevertheless, there are more consequences in the pursuit of nuclear energy. In the light of one fault in using nuclear energy is that it impacts aquatic life. A result of radioactive waste, which nuclear power plants create, helps to cause eutrophication. Eutrophication can affect plant life in the water for the reason that minerals could cause algae to grow, which would block sunlight from the reach of the plants at the bottom of the water. Coupled with the impact on aquatic life, nuclear power plants also have a tremendous impact on human life as well. On August 6, 1945, the Hiroshima and Nagasaki were obliterated by nuclear bombs. For this very catastrophe, five decades after the bombing, children are still being born with the aftereffects of the booms from their family trees. Currently, there is no cure for the affected children and
