Norway The geological aspect of Norway is very interesting. Norway is part of a section of land called Scandinavia. Scandinavia is a cluster of three nations; Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Norway is west of Sweden and north of Denmark, west of Norway there is the Norwegian Sea. Along the entire coast there are some short and long canals breaching into the land called fjords. Fjords are inlets of water that open up to a portion of land. The longest known fjord is 110 miles long. The entire coast line of Norway is 13,000 miles long. However if you include the fjords and islands, it jumps to over 32,000 miles (Blashfield 14). These fjords were caused during the last ice age. The massive ice sheets during that period dug these beautiful land structures that we see today (Hand 19). If you were to travel the longest possible route from the southwest to the northeast of Norway it would stretch a whopping 1,089 miles. Norway is very thin compared to its length however.
