Nelson Mandela was born July 18th 1918 into a thembu tribe in South Africa. Mandela’s birth name was Rolihlahla that was given by his tribe. Which he live in a village of Mvezo with his father that served as the chief. He was born into a family with nine sisters and four brothers. After his father died in 1927 his family moved to Qunu. From there he was adopted by a tribe regent named Jongintaba Dalindyebo. Then he went on to go to school where he got the english name we know him today as Nelson Mandela. …show more content…
He was the first of his tribe to receive a formal education because usually they went to a school in their tribe. In the school he excels in boxing and track at Methodist Secondary School. In 1939 Mandela insert into University Fort Hare. After that he got sent home because he boycott it against the university policies. After learning about his arranged marriage fled from Africa.
