There have been many quotes written on the topic of positive thinking and even many more books written about this same subject. Yet everyday people fall into the rut of negative thinking. When someone asks if something can be done, what is your first thought? Do you immediately start brain storming of ways to make it happen or do you immediately say, “you can’t do that” or “that is impossible”. Some would argue that their experience tells them it is impossible and can’t be done. Perhaps your experiences have created a tunnel vision that focuses on the Negative.
Once upon a time, someone said it was impossible to fly to the moon, fly in an airplane, or even facetime with someone in another country. While those people were focusing on nourishing the negative and impeding the imagination of bringing the impossible to life, others were walking around thinking how they can make it happen. Thanks to their positive and imaginative mind, those people are now Billionaires. John Roebling did not let the failures of other designers stop him from successfully building the longest spanned suspension bridge of his time. Instead of letting negative thinkers tell him that suspension bridges do nothing but fail, Roebling found a way to make history by adding a web truss to either side of the bridge roadway that greatly stabilized the structure. We now know of this structure for being the 8th wonder of the world. Albert Einstein did not let a school system where the spirit of learning and creative thought was lost in strict rote learning. He tapped into his imagination and problem solving skills and continued to question science until he won the Nobel Prize in Physics. Abraham Lincoln didn’t let his poor upbringing and lack of educational opportunities stop him from becoming a lawyer. Abraham failed at everything he tried to do, but had it not been for a positive mindset keeping him going, he may not have achieved the most honorable title of, The President of the United States. In more recent years, if Steve Jobs took “NO” or powered forward without a positive attitude then we may not have the Apple Products we all love today. Looking at the success of all the people in this world and what they overcame to achieve success was not achieved without a positive attitude. A study done by a famous psychologist Alice Isen found that positive moods facilitate creative problem-solving. Negative emotions were found to lead us to think more narrowly. Therefore, your belief system directly affects the outcome of your ability to solve problems, take on challenges, and ultimately be creative. If you’re not a positive thinker, but rather a negative thinker…then you are eating away at productivity, creativity, and problem solving skills. All in all, a negative attitude will be more powerful on your motivation and therefore affect your positive progress. So how do we widen our thought process and stop jumping to the conclusion “it can’t be done”? …show more content…

It has been proven that the power of words effect your subconscious minds to improve your life and get the things you want. Here are a few suggestions to enhance and build your Positive Thinking Muscles:
1. Read something every day to inspire you to think positively about yourself. Starting your day with a positive thought toward your self will change your mood in a positive way. This reflection of inner positive feelings will reflect outward to those around you. Just like how contagious a simple smile can be, so can a positive and confident attitude. Thus, kick starting your mind positively. 2. Social media has become a very large part of our lives. In fact, psychologists have incorporated the effects of social media into their psychology lessons. A study from the University of Michigan collected data about Facebook users and how it correlated with their moods. Simply put, they found that the more avid users became increasingly unhappy than those using the sites less. Additionally, avid users also reported lower
