Obesity is an excess amount of fat and leads to many deaths in today’s world. It’s measured by your Body Mass Index (BMI) and your considered obese if it’s thirty or greater. Obesity puts your body in risk of serious medical conditions that can be life threatening. It can be caused by the person’s behavior, environment, or genetics, all of which are avoidable by living in a healthy way. Different cultures have different effects on obesity because of their ways of life. Becoming obese can be avoided by living a healthy lifestyle filled with eating right and consistent exercise. Living a healthy lifestyle has many positive benefits that make life the best it can be.
How a person acts can cause them to become obese at some point in their life.

Junk food may be cheaper but it’s that worse for your body’s health. Junk food slows a person down when they attempt to be active. But that’s beside the point, at least their trying to be active. Obesity is also caused from lack of exercise. Many people rely more on their cars instead of just walking the short distance they have from point A to point B. Laziness has become so common because people tend to just sit around and watch television or browse the internet. Foreign countries like Asia have a different food system. Asia bases their food off white rice. They also have much smaller portion sizes:
“While Americans usually eat from separate dishes, Asians are accustomed to family-style dishes, where there is typically one small dish of each food group for everyone to share, paired with a bowl of rice and sometimes a bowl of soup. Instead of having to finish one’s plate, Asians are more concerned with finishing one’s bowl of rice, while consuming bite size portions of various types of dishes, which consist mostly of vegetables. Instead of worrying about eating a certain portion size, you simply stop eating once your stomach’s half full.” (Is the Asian Diet Healthier)
They eat the smaller portions and what they consume is nutritious for their bodies. Most of the food they consume is not processed because sweets and treats are rarely eaten. Fruits normally serve as a dessert for them. Asia has a higher rate in mortality and lower rate in obesity, so clearly they are doing something right in their food
