An excellent example of a majorly developed city is Chicago, Illinois. Rent Café had published an article about the changes Chicago has gone through in a series of photos, illustrating in an excellent way the development the city has gone through.
One of the first few photos within this article is a comparison of Navy Pier. The photos were taken in 1984 and 2013, respectively. The photo from 1984 was taken from Wikipedia user Louvee while the 2013 photo was taken from a blog called Tradeshows and Displays. Originally called Municipal Pier, the construction of this structure was completed in 1916, with the original purpose of a freight dock, with a small allocation of space used for the public. After being renamed in 1927 after the First World War and going through a series of changes for its use, the Pier now serves as a social, entertainment and retail hub for the people.
