Natural High Research Paper

What is a natural high and why is it so important? A natural high can be defined as, “an excited state that is not due to the ingestion of drugs or another substance”. In this day and age, it is rarely heard that an individual achieved a high without the usage of drugs or any other artificial substance. The importance of reaching this excited state independently shows the inner strength and determination of a person. Although it takes more time and effort to achieve this mindset, the feeling is infinitely more satisfying than any drug can deliver. The source of reaching a natural high can come from anywhere, one just needs to know where to look. The sounds, sights, feelings that you will go through are indescribable, and I know by experience. Under the sea is the most beautiful, breathtaking, and wonderful place I have ever seen. The various corals, fish, and mammals all living together is truly astonishing. Being a temporary part of such a large, fragile ecosystem is overwhelming. Every time right before I jump in the water, I undergo a wave of excitement and thrill. The best sight I ever endured underwater was when I was diving in Grand Cayman with my father. We went swimming through caverns that were lined with starfish, coral, and crustaceans and ran into millions of silversides (schooling fish) just swimming along. The fish moved so swiftly according to our motions as if we were controlling them. The cavern must have been there for thousands of years and for me to swim right through it was unbelievable. The ocean is such a wonderful place to achieve a natural high. Diving is an unforgettable activity that will change you as a person forever.
