Although a peace deal was made, Serbians do not see Kosovo as being independent and Kosovar Albanians have resentment and hatred towards Serbs. The Kosovar Albanians burned down anything Serbian in Kosovo down; Serbian churches got turned into garbage dumps. Source B states that “peace cannot be forged out of bombings”. Source A illustrates how NATO was fighting violence with violence. NATO points to the lives lost under Milosevic’s call, while Milosevic points to the lives lost in the Chinese embassy attack. The violent bombing of the Chinese embassy turned the issue into a national one. Both sources B and C saying that the bombing was a “gross violation of China’s sovereignty”. Apart from NATO launching the attacks without consulting with the U.N, they did not stop the attacks when members of the U.N spoke against it. They also went against their moral standing of remaining neutral when they attacked Serbia in this regional conflict. When China, whom is part of the U.N. Security Council and was against the airstrikes since they first commenced, called a session to talk about the attacks the U.S said “...the airstrikes will not stop,” according to Source C. The U.S along with the allies did not listen to what the rest of the world had to say, Source B in support saying it is “impossible for any one country or handful of countries to dominate international affairs”. The source also said the continuation of the airstrikes caused “...anti-American protests in China”. Source D shows an anti-USA protest in Beijing in May 1999. The image shows angry civilians there burning an American flag. The NATO airstrike showed how NATO did not hold respect to what the U.N. had to day in respect to the attacks and tried to control international affairs themselves. In result, there were millions of dollars spend on weaponry and in damages, yet the core conflict of the ethnic divide between Serbia and Kosovo
