They forced me into making some bad decisions in life such as persuaded me not to church and have sleepovers instead, walk home from school with them without anyone or my parents knowing, and they would walk to my house without my parents or their parents knowing and pick me up to go to the park with them. I am not going to blame them for everything because I knew what was right and what was wrong, but I did not have the best influences. None of my friends’ families ever went to church so neither would I. To this day, I believe that at that point in my life I was not a Christian believer. We went out to the stage where our main pastor, Reid, was talking about how you’re blind with God, but you have to trust that he will be there. I will never forget the words Reid said to me after he got off stage, he said, “No one knows what you have been through but God. If you asked me right now to tell me what has happened in your life, I would have no clue. Only God knows your story. All i know is that you are here at this retreat praising God which tells me you have pushed through any challenges you have had in life so far.” I took me a while to take that all and he asked me to pray with him before I left and he continued, “God you are Piper’s savior. Piper wants You in her life and she does not care about her life in past, but she is focusing on the present with You. Piper is yours and she is accepting You into her heart and into her life because Piper’s everlasting father is You. Look up to your leader, the God you love and adore because you are His and He is yours, Amen.” And the rest of that night, all I can remember is that it was filled with tears of joy.
