I became pregnant with my oldest son, Donovan. I was five and a half months along when I received the news. As the oldest child, from a broken and abusive home, I did not realize the odds that were stacked against my future. During the pregnancy and labor, I remember how I was treated by many of the nurses. Most of them were kind, and I did not feel their judgment when caring for me, an unwed, teenage mother. On the other hand, there were a handful of nurses who did not attempt to mask their disapproval. As a patient, this made me feel small and unimportant at a time when I should have been celebrating.
My grandma and the nurses caring for me during my transition into teenage motherhood, created an impact on my eventual nursing path. My grandma’s patience and the other nurse’s non- judgmental attitudes, helped shape me into the nurse I strived to become.
One example of how I can work on my master’s degree, in a way to carry out Colossians 3:23-24, is by putting forth my greatest effort. I will not be careless in the creation and completion of my assignments. I will accept all constructive criticism as a tool to improve my writing skills. Also, if I have questions I will not be shy, but will ask questions, so I may succeed through this
