Being a part of Phi Delta Chi philanthropy committee allowed me to help plan and be a part of a variety of volunteer experiences. This last year our group assisted in Boo at the Zoo and Springification. During Boo at the Zoo I was a part of performing a skit during the family train ride. At Springification our group was assigned to pick up garbage near the river and roads. Along with the service work, I also raise money for St. Jude Children 's Research Hospital through our 5k marathon, coffee cart, and Charity Miles program.
ACE Campus Food Pantry is a local food bank on Purdue’s campus the supplies nonperishable good to students, staff and faculty. I was still not completely set on pharmacy and knew very little information about the profession. I quickly realized how different hospital pharmacy was from retail. Not only do pharmacists check all the prescriptions but they also create all the IV bags. The pharmacist was easily able to discuss treatment and dosage with doctors and therefore was able to ensure patient safety. It amazed me how much technology the pharmacy team had accesses to. All of the medications were constantly tracked by a very secure computerized holding unit. Inpatient hospital appeared to be a much more relaxed environment where the pharmacist could truly focus on more complex patient
