It is through the symbol of the cross that I am reminded daily of the sacrifice given to all who choose to accept it. I believe a belief in the cross unites thousands of people with a hope in something greater than themselves. For those who believe, the cross reminds us of the sacrifice one man was willing to do and that belief can humble every believer, bend every knee of those who place their faith in it.

Faith in something that some many suggest is merely imagination. Many might think of God as a simple concept or a theory. For me, God is a living entity in my life. I see God is in the relationship I have within my family. I saw God when my mother paid for strangers groceries because she did not have enough money. I see God in my niece and nephew as they share their favorite toy with a kid at the park. I marvel at the interconnectedness of all of creation and see the beautiful masterpiece of God’s handiwork. God has shown me through my family, friends and my athletic abilities that so much is possible. Faith, spiritual awareness, and peace are difficult to describe or articulate as a specific event in life. My belief in God has been ever changing; it is a feeling of knowing that you are safe when you feel afraid, feeling peace when you have lost your grandmother, feeling comfort when you find yourself searching. It has grown from the simplest form of believing because as the song goes, “Because the Bible tells me so.”, to the most complex and undefinable because my soul, the deepest part of my very being believes. I believe that God has shown me His unconditional love through the support of my family who have surrounded and supported me in all things.
