Too often we dismiss the fact that while we think we are saving time by multitasking, we are really creating more work for ourselves, and take more time doing it all together than doing it one at a time. I learned that switching between different tasks is less efficient and more timely. I learned how multitasking affects brain activity connections and how it causes you to lose information more than you would gain it. I also gained insight into just how much technology plays a part in our inability to stay focused, and that cutting such technology out during studying will produce more productivity and information retention. After reading about how multitasking is more bad for you than it is good, I researched ways to improve study habits, along with ways to eliminate distractions during study time. I gained valuable tips and information by looking further into the case of multitasking and negative study habits. Reading this essay made me realize I can maximize my learning potential, and have the ability to get even higher grades than I already do, by applying myself to the fullest and eliminating any barriers that could effect my learning negatively. The theme of the essay was to teach students the fundamentals of studying and the harmful effects of multitasking during studying. I think the writer of the essay did a wonderful job researching facts pertaining to the negative effects of multitasking, and explaining in detail why we should avoid those habits to obtain a better learning experience. I realize now that while I was trying to take shortcuts when it came to studying and learning I was only hurting myself and my own grade critically.
