Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing takes place in the town of Messina. The play promptly begins with the annunciation of Prince Don Pedros arrival. While this classic play tells the story of Claudio and Hero, and Beatrice and Benedick, many variations of this play exist where the story differs in some elements. However, despite the differences, the use of modern images and setting improves the audiences connection to the story and does not undermine the stories overall message. In joss whedon's movie, he changes the way the characters speak and dress in order to fit it into a more modern setting. However, this change does not affect the message in which love and honor between two people can face grave challenges when interfered with. For instance, Claudio and Heros love faced the greatest obstacle when Don Jon attempted to sabotage the wedding. When the truth came out, the characters resolved their conflict and resumed their wedding. Another time two characters faced obstacles was when Beatrice and Benedick struggled to reveal their true feeling about one another until Hero and Claudio showed their letters where they express their love for each other. This shows that the in both movies, main plot points remained the same, but each director had their own way of explaining it. Moreover, the differences between the movies and the plays were mostly just changed to better suit the time period. The fact that there was a change in setting between the two films shows that the story applies to any time period since people face similar conflicts like in the play. It also suggests that the way shakespeare wrote the characters allows the audience to relate to whomever more easily because of the characters relatability. In brief, Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing contains a storyline that relates to any time period, whether past or present, since human behavior does not change; thus, his message does not weaken as a change in setting
