Movie Editing Research Paper

I have decided to write my paper on the career in film, movie editing. I found that I have a knack for editing and quite enjoy it. A film editor is a person who takes unneeded snippets of film, removes it, and puts them together in a specific order to create a finished product. Going through the footage once the filming is done, selecting the scenes, and putting them in an specific order to tell the story in a way that the audience is entertained and understands the point you are trying to get across is another thing that goes into video editing. Having strong soft skills, which is another way of saying communication skills, is a must to work well with others, such as directors cinematographers, sound editors, special effects editors and music producers. Being flexible and being capable of dealing with production delays, sudden problems with the film, and an abundance of different type of people and personality types. The ability to stay cool and collected in very stressful or chaotic situations, and the willingness to work very long hard tiring hours on rushed assignments. Having standards when it comes to work ethic and the dedication and patience to be able to follow the director's vision instead of changing the material to make your own all are what goes into film editing. Even well known big film editors find themselves being tested in using their skills and stretching their abilities by the demands of really hard complex movies heavy with visual effects.
