This animal has many similar traits to another character. The author states "Tim Johnson was not much more than a speck in the distance, but he was closer to us. He walked erratically, as if his right legs were shorter than his left legs" (Harper 93). Firstly this dog seems to have a very similar name to Tom Robinson. In addition, it has the same injury as Tom. They both have shortened limbs. Thus, Harper Lee is foreshadowing this situation with the Tom Robinson case. They both happen unexpectedly. Harper Lee made sure to cooperate these courageous characters by symbolizing them and showing their ability through terrible conflicts.
