Module 7: Discipline Issues In The Workplace

How is your work center? Is there any discipline or do people just do what they want, and get away with it? As supervisors we need to instill discipline and not let our subordinates start any disciplinary issues. This is the reason that I found discipline model (DM) area 1- prevention to be the most import concept in Module 7. According to Module 7 the key action to prevent any disciplinary issues are; set clear standards, establish rapport, and create climate of accountability. This concept is most important to me because if used correctly you do not need to worry about having problems in the work center. Of course I have to constantly be checking and communicating with my subordinates. Being on top of communicating with my subordinates …show more content…
For example, the supervisor might not set clear standards, or none at all. If the supervisor sets good standards, than they might not have a rapport with their subordinates. This could hurt the subordinate because he might have an issue, but not be able be able to talk to their supervisor. Holding subordinates accountable, if the supervisor does not do this then the subordinate could think he or she can get away with anything. The main purpose is to prevent any future problems or issue. If any of the following; set standards, establish rapport, and create climate of accountability then the supervisor fail the subordinate. The subordinate could possibly have a problem or disciplinary action because of it. I will set clear standards and expectations so there are no questions on what I mean. I will need to dedicate more time and have formal or informal feedback to establish a better rapport. I will need to correct issues on the spot. Hold everyone accountable for his or her actions. I will also need to hold myself accountable and to the same standards as my subordinates. By doing this my subordinates will be less likely to have any disciplinary actions. If they do have some issues they will be minor, because I would correct my subordinates on the
