Mlk Day Persuasive Speech

In “The meaning of King Holiday” Dr. King’s wife, says that MLK day should be a day of service. “What she means by that is how can others others serve after graduating and entering the “adult” world?” Well like MLK he didn't know what to do with his life after graduating and yet after his lifetime all races have equal rights. I am not saying everyone within their lifetime will make that huge of a change in the world. Even doing the little stuff will help change the world in some sort of way.
If I could go back in time, some solutions for the communication breakdown between races in that day would be walk a mile in their shoes. It sounds dumb but the stupid lessons are the ones that really help build character. The africans americans and the whites should have discussed their feelings. The africans americans did and the whites didn't care and made them not feel equal. The whites should have thought about how the africans americans felt when they were given no rights. Treat how you wanted to be treated. Then we can have equality with all races and everyone would be nice, and kind to one another.

Another good motive of mine is Never judge anyone because you don't know what they're going through or why they even did it in the first place, and always give the benefit of the don't because you don't really know what going on until you hear both sides of the story. This is a motive it's a lifestyle of mine but it shapes my character for the better. “Life Is hard and it isn't fair so never refuse defeat because when you finally achieve what you work so hard for it feels ten times better

If African American leaders in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries agreed on any one point, it would be thus: the problem of the times was the problem of race relations. W.E.B. DuBois called it the “problem of the color-line,” and Fredrick Douglass the “race problem,” but no matter the name, the plague of the period was the enmity between white Americans and black Americans (vii; 5). The Talented Tenth, however, did not always agree on how best to advocate for greater inclusion and equality for black people…

Ever since the establishment of the African American race, the involved individuals have been forced to deal with the strife being brought upon them by the white race. Originally, blacks were being shackled by the confines of slavery but after the abolishment of the institution in 1865 there was a new hurdle to face. For the remainder of the 19th century and into the 20th, African Americans were still being tethered down by the erroneous ideals of whites. Two of the most significant voices that were heard at that time were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois. The two men had differing viewpoints on what route needed to be taken to improve the black race.…

I view the Booker T. Washington speech given more as a starting point to work with the southern whites to bridge the huge cultural and racial difference between the two races. The example I feel like is being used is a Strategic Alliance. I know the problem was a racial problem, not an educational problem, but in the late 19th and 20th century we lacked the proper education. So why not lift themselves through diligent work and material success and see where it leads them. Booker T. Washington trusted in instruction in the artworks, mechanical and cultivating aptitudes and the development of the excellencies of tolerance, undertaking, and thrift.…

Black Oppression in the South There was once a time in American history when whites did not get along with blacks. Discrimination filled the nation, creating two different races. Well I think they ask the same question I did, what happened to “all men are created equally?” During the years of Jim Crow laws, white American did not care how African Americans felt, as long as whites remained in power over them. Whites took away all the rights they possibly could and treated blacks as poorly as possible to keep them from gaining education. Education was key, and that is why whites took it away. If blacks had the same education as whites, they would be eligible for the same jobs, earning the same pay, and that would lead to having power and social statuses.…
