Merits And Disadvantages Of Artificial Intelligence

One of the disadvantages of AI is the high cost. In the creating an artificial intelligence requires enormous expenses as they are very multifarious machines and so its repair and maintenances. They have software programs which require numerous progressions to provide the needs of the changes in the environment and also the need for the machines to be smarter day by day. In the case of rigorous breakdowns, the procedure to recuperate lost codes and re-instating the system could require huge time and expenditure.
Another disadvantage is that a robot or machine can't replicate or replace a human being. Intelligence is a gift of nature. An ethical disagreement continues, whether human intelligence is to be simulated or not. Machines do not

Unlike people, artificial intelligence can’t be enhanced with experiences. A machine is only capable of doing what is programmed in its system it doesn’t know what to improve unlike a human they can improve what was lacking in their abilities. Machines are unable to vary their responses to environment. In terms of artificial intelligence, there is nothing like compare in using the whole heart passionately. There is no such thing as care or concerns present in a machine intelligence vocabulary. There is no sense of togetherness or a human contact. Another disadvantage is Unemployment because as you can see many people were having less jobs or having no jobs to apply. Because of the AI robots many companies referred to use robots than to a person, Although Robots are always active and they have no breaks in their works. They can work non-stop but other robots can handle the job but they are rechargeable. The replacement of people with machinery can lead to huge scale unemployment. Unemployment is a socially undesirable phenomenon. People with nothing to do can lead to the destructive use of their creative minds. Humans can unnecessarily be very much dependent on the machines if the use of artificial intelligence becomes uncontrolled. They will lose their creative power and will become lethargic. Also, if humans start thinking in a negative way, they can create destruction with this machinery. Artificial intelligence in wrong hands is a risk to mankind. It may lead to huge disruption. Kevin Kelly’s article starts off by talking about how automation slowly replaced half the work force during the industrial revolution. He mentions that those who during that time period were replaced did not sit idle but found and created new jobs for themselves and others. Mr. Kelly uses this idea of the work force being replaced by steadily improving automation, yet the replaced work force creates new jobs instead of sitting idle, to propel his idea of people being replaced by machines as a positive thing. Mr. Kelly talks about how robots already do the work that humans are incapable of doing, such as working in hazardous locations doing hard labor. Thankfully Mr. Kelly points out that robots will slowly take over white collar jobs, do…

Andrew Conforto English 101: GW Professor Mazzaferro 9/14/17 Paper 1 (Rough Draft): Life in the “Robotic Moment” Sherry Turkle’s “Selections from Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other” is a commentary on the changing view of AI, or artificial intelligence, in our progressing society. Turkle’s argument is one based in ethical and philosophical roots and challenges our current definition of what it means to be “alive”. This issue becomes more pressing the more sophisticated, multifaceted, and versatile our robots and machines become. Our era, which Turkle coins as “the robotic moment”, offers a chance to redefine life to not only be limited by biological standards, but rather be based on a combination of…

Instead, AI can replace work that is deemed dangerous and can overturn productivity for humans. Firstly, AI learns and evolved differently. An example is that Artificial intelligence’s brain works as a whole instead of being many individual brains. Using the self-driving car example, “when one of the self-driving cars makes an error, all of the self-driving cars learn from it”(Par.4) There is no need to reprogram every individual AI in order to be updated like how you must spread the news to every human being.…

Robots required to complete these tasks will be very expensive, and only the most affluent citizens will be able to afford them, leading to an even greater gap between the rich and poor, essentially removing the middle class. In the long-run, this will ultimately lead to the downfall of humanity because very few people will be able to afford the goods that are produced, causing everyone to be worse off. As a result of capitalism, income distribution is inadequate which is concerning for those skilled workers who are barely making enough to get by. The government must tax the wealthy, and provide a liveable income for those poorer people who are struggling to make ends meet. Only when there is a suitable balance in income distribution, will there be a world where all people are able to afford their basic needs.…

As technology continues to advance with every passing minute, it seems as if the idea of robots taking over human jobs, whether it be physical or intellectual, no longer seems too far off from reality. While it currently seems likely that machines are on a path to take over human jobs, many still feel uncomfortable with this becoming their reality. Kevin Kelly in his persuasive essay, “Better than Human: Why Robots Will-and Must-Take Our Jobs, assumes that his audience is anti-machine job takeover, and attempts to persuade his audience through the use of logos. Kelly heavily relies on logos throughout his essay, it becomes his crutch as there is insufficient amount of strong evidence that prove his claim.…
