Malcolm X once said “If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”The news often belittles black individuals more than white individuals, it is an enormous issue in the black community. Society has been mentally conditioned to feel that most dark individuals have negative conduct. The media uncovers inclination by just depicting black people as individuals who are not as much as white people by demonstrating their poor and broken side of their gathering of people. The media is also responsible for displaying a substandard side of black people rather than showing them succeed in life. This is a trustworthy source. “Researchers at the University of Illinois examined broadcast and print media and found big differences in their portrayals of black versus white families.” The source is reliable because it was said the people researched this topic at a University and was able to pull out important data. This article shows bias because it gives examples of how the news puts black families in the black families in the negative light. “Fox News, for example (the Bill O’Reilly Show especially), was consistently more likely to present black families in a negative light. The New York Times was second only to the right-wing Breitbart New Network in overrepresenting poor black families and fourth (of 13) in the ranking of sources that describe black families as a source of societal dysfunction.” This is biased because of the fact that the news does not represent black families as who they really are.
