Our phones are powerful tools of media. The media is a popular medium promoting racism and negative stereotypes about black people. For many years the media has been shown hundred of thousands of blacks triumphantly playing sports, and very few performing successfully in school. These negative stereotypes have caused been showing more blacks playing sports than in school. People choose to do this in the media because they think that black athletes don't have the ability to be smart when it comes to academics. These degrading stereotypes have affected the black community because people encourage them to play sports than go to school. While people believe the media is being racist to minority races, the media shows african americans choose to play sports rather that going to college therefore; the media should show more minority races in schools.
African Americans are treated unfairly in the media because the media want to show only how blacks can only succeed in sport and not other opportunities. African Americans are hardly acknowledged on the media, when they are doing positive things around the community. The media tries to tell us that all black people can do is play sports. They think that just because majority of basketball and football players are black and never graduated college they are dumb. They try to spread stereotypes that majority of blacks can not be something in this world and make it positive. The media tries to call us different species but even science says that we all are all the same. In the black Community We are motivated to play sport and become a superstar. African American put less time trying to go to college but more playing sports. the media want us to believe a that a average black person is poor and want to play sports. African Americans are not encouraged to go to college due to most families are unexpected with college and don't have the money. In the black community people don't tell you how important it is going to college. “Black student who join college with a clear goal to graduate with a degree tend to look at their athletic ability as a mean to earn a scholarship so as to get a education.Q2-15” Being on the media can create a mindset to do what we don't want to do so we can impress other people. “In 1968 summer olympic game two black men Tommie Smith and John Carlos bravely shocked the world when they raise their black panther fist for all the trouble blacks had during the time”. This can affect how African Americans lives because a black person may have a dream he might want to pursue outside of sports. “Also it will be against the law because the law states that minorities should have equal access to areas that had previously been closed to them such as employment, education and housing.”(Q2-6) A black person should not need to be forced to play a sport because there race is doing it. They need the opportunity to choose what they want to do in life. The world should stop hating on minority races because it will cause hate and war.
