What was the most import thing in the interview?

“Most: There are those who have to make instructional design decisions and not just those who are trained as instructional designers.”

This is very powerful statement and it lets you know that being able to make decisions is very important when it comes to how courses are designed, implement, and provided to students for them to learn. It is not only important to understand how the course is designed, but before you even design the class, there has to be individuals that truly understand what is needed for the students, the faculty, and the university.

“Confusing: When it comes to instructional design, there is a team approach which includes an instructional designer/PM, assistant PM, media development team, faculty member, 1 to 3 faculty members on the development team, and individuals not on the team that review copy rights.”

I think it is great to have a team like this, but my confusion is why it doesn’t occur more. When I look at most people who do instructional design, people are looking for the faculty members to do the design themselves, and I don’t think that is fair to them especially since it is not in their area of content. I like how Alan stated that there were a group of individuals who development instructional designs for faculty to use. I believe this is one of the reason why a lot of faculty don’t have meaningful course material for their students because it lacked a PM, a media development team that reviewed the graphics, powerpoint, and audio, other faculty members to review the content and the instructional strategies, other faculty members to review the types of learning outcomes used, and then someone else to ensure that no copyright rules were
