M1 Trench Narrative

Boom! I fall to the ground; there's ringing in my ears. The artillery has bombed another trench yet again (Young 28). My m1 Garand is twelve feet away from me, and the trenches are filling with shrapnel. More explosions are bound to come, so I crawl to my Springfield semi-automatic (m1 Garand), still with the smell of gunpowder and smoke in my nostrils. But I continue to go get my gun I grab it and shoot the Germans pouring in the wood rotten trenches. Then I get out of the trench someone yells my name, ”VICTOR GET DOWN!” Enemy snipers are in the bunkers, along with the enemy artillery. At that moment I remember my dad lost his life in WW1 when I was just a toddler. Then John’s shot in his brain, Hell that's another death with more to come. I come out of my termite infested trench and run to Germen grown trench outnumbered and scared as I scramble in the trench but what's this it looks like they're all dead but all wearing gas masks. I pull one off and I hear the sound of gas; it's a trap. I tell them to fall back but it's too late. My lungs fill with mustard gas and I black out not knowing what will happen next… A month later she told me as I woke up and I couldn't see the only thing I remember is the blackout I guess when I got gassed I got blinded for god know when. But she took them my blindfold off and I could barely see. And then my vision is clear. The very attractive nurse is calling my name,” Victor” she says. I'm a nurse.
