We as a society have become so dependent on our phones that without it we begin to feel lost and weak as if it’s a drug. Steve Cutt does a great job of depicting the true meaning of our society through these images or as he calls them the “sad truth“. The imagine that has caught my attention was the one that looked like the zombie apocalypse has taken over, except the zombies were actually us humans and our food supply are our phones (technology). My reaction to this image consisted of agreement and worry that we might actually be in big trouble if we continue to live a life where technology is our most important need rather than being happy with what we have. Instead we are becoming a consumer – driven society what always wants more of…

Reading the article “The Eternal Umbilicus” by Hara Estroff Marano, I have to say that I agree with most of the topics that were stated in the article such as, cellphones making us more dependent on our parents and preventing us from solving our own problems. However, there were some points in the article which I found somewhat irrelevant and exaggerated. Therefore I had to disagree on those points. One of the topics that I found irrelevant and exaggerated is, that cellphones are one of the main cause of failing relationships, an idea such as this one sounds too far fetched to me.…

External influences can change everyone’s day to day life. Everyone may have different influences that change how they are, but all influences form who you are. It doesn’t matter how much you feel that you can’t be affected by the outside world, or how what’s going on in the white house has nothing to do with you because you live in a small town in Vermont, when it has everything to do with you, and no matter how much you wish it wouldn’t affect your life, it will. Because like what Julian Baggini says in his ted talk, if you were to take away all these external influences, you wouldn’t have a personality, and you wouldn’t be you. External influences can change the way you live, your daily life, your perspective on the world and the way you wish to live.…
