Marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America. Thousands of people in America use marijuana. Today in America 23 states have legalized medical marijuana, four of those recreational use, which does not include Utah. Since some people see marijuana as just a drug, it’s important to see and understand how it can help just as much a prescription drugs. The Utah Legislation should be making medical marijuana legal in Utah because it helps with the health, the economy and crime rate of Utah.

Having a good economy can help create new jobs. Also with Utah having a more money we can better education. Utah can start to rebuild old school making them a better and safer for the students. They can give public schools a bigger budget to keep some of their school activities. Utah can even lower the tuition or even make community college free. All this can be done with legalizing medical marijuana. Money would be coming from everywhere pretty much. From the crops, to the candies, food, to the way you would take marijuana, from putting ads up for stores and from the taxes the stores would pay. According to a Huffington Puff article written by Matt Ferner, “Legalizing medical marijuana causes no increase in crime, according to a new study. In fact, legalized medical pot may reduce some violent crime, including homicide, University of Texas at Dallas researchers wrote in a journal article published this week” (Ferner). He then went on by saying that they couldn’t find out how they were connected to each other.
