During my review of the literature, I found that a good leader-subordinate relationship is essential in overall effectiveness of a team. To be effective as a leader, it is important to have a mixed bag of talents. “What is the proper mix of relational characteristics to promote desired outcomes?”…

Civil disobedience, defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, means the "refusal to obey governmental demands or commands especially as a nonviolent and usually collective means of forcing concessions from the government." Throughout history, many acts of civil disobedience, or non-violent resistance, have occurred. Most of these acts of resistance have helped to change many different societies throughout the world starting with the Indian Independence Movement in the 1930's, to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950's, all the way to the Arab Revolutions which started in the late 1990's. However, I believe that non-violent resistance, as a means of protest, is less effective in today's society compared to when this strategy was used by Gandhi…

This paper will start with giving a brief understanding of leader rewards and punishment behavior, also giving an explanation of how these can be used to help lead an organization. Moreover, it will give a review of the three most interesting topics of our reading this week and why I found them to be interesting, where I have seen these three used in the past, and conclude with how I might use them in the future. The three topics that I choose from the reading material are the three most notable models of human motivation: Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, McGregor’s X-Y theory, and Herzberg’s hygiene and motivation factors. Leader reward and punishment behavior were introduced in the 1970s and are critical to leaders as they are determinants…

In future, I will apply this principle of “Walk the ground!” by constantly engaging my superiors, peers and subordinates for their guidance and opinions through cohesion and feedback sessions on how various tasks can be done more effectively and efficiently. Through these sessions, I will seek to understand their concerns and challenges in their area of work.…
