As a result, the people would be more virtuous, and the society would be stable. I agree that too many prohibitions would block the creativity of people and hinder the development of society. The more time a society remains stagnated, poorer living standards are developed and many people have to live in this. The situation caused discontent and social instability. On the contrary, if people could have more freedom and be allowed to think creatively with an open mind, new technologies can be developed which can promote the advancement of society and a higher quality of life. Also, people who have freedom to think openly would have a deeper understanding of the responsibility they have to their country and not just focus on themselves. As a result, the society will be more stable and people would more virtuous. The core thought in this sentence is the freedom of the people. The United States really cares about human rights and freedom. At this point, the political thoughts and ideas today in the United States seem similar to the Tao-te Jing. However, the freedom today in the United States is not totally free; the freedom is still bound by the laws, whereas long as you are a law abiding citizen, your freedoms will not be taken away. However, in Tao-te Jing, in Lao-Tzu’s idealistic thought, the government should give people total 100% freedom. He neglected the negative impact of unlimited freedom and overlooked the quality of people. In any time and society, people need governed laws and compulsion to give society order. The perfect society in which everyone has a high quality and social consciousness like in Tao-te Jing is unrealistic and hard to reach. This unrealistic society Utopian, where yes it is completely possible but there are an infinite
