On pg. 72-74 council was scared of light because they don’t have any knowledge of stuff that they don’t wish to know and they don’t seek it so they don’t know it council was said to know everything but they were scared of the light and therefore they are scared of knowledge and because they don’t know it they think that it doesn’t exist.

In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, Equality was considered damned by the standards of his society. He asked too many questions at school, was taller than his brothers, was given the job as a street sweeper, and broke the laws of Transgression of Preference. Even though he broke the standards of society, in the world of knowledge he was on top. He built the first lightbulb know to man of that time, discovered the Unmentionable Word, and realized his goal in life with the help of one thing. The electricity was described as being a granite wall, the barrier that Equality’s brother would never be able to pass because they don’t seek for knowledge. Equality has knowledge because he sought it and he got it.

The people won’t know what to do with that time and will start questioning things. Then the more the people question the more they will want answers. This will arouse people's natural curiosity and people will start rebelling. this is what the council is scared of therefore they forbid the light
