Greg Baker Personality Analysis

According to the Jung Typology Test, I have the personality type "INTJ". This indicates that I am mostly an introverted, thinking, and judging personality. While I consider these characteristics to be natural tendencies that I have, it is important for me to remember to avoid using labels as excuses for who I am in the flesh. I have a "moderate preference of introversion over extraversion" (humanmetrics.com) according to the test. I am shy and reserved around most people, and I often find a lot of group interaction stressful. Like many people, I fear rejection when I interact with peers; but while many extroverts tend to over-compensate for this by turning to humor, sarcasm, or just talking a lot, I tend to compensate with silence and body language that does not invite probing. Greg Baker described the results of my introverted tendencies well: "When you don't get involved in other people's lives they will assume that you want to be left alone...You, in turn, get upset because you think that people don't like you (Baker 8). This fear of what people will think of me is pride, and it is easy to ignore the pride in my life by blaming it on my personality. If I do not allow the Holy Spirit to work in me through and despite my personal tendency toward introversion, I will never be the effective friend and witness that God wants me to be. The "N" indicates that I have a very slight preference of intuition over sensing. I generally "read between the lines" of situations I am in, which Myersbriggs.org describes as a characteristic of intuition. However, the description of wanting to do "things that are new and different" does not describe me most of the time. The test indicates that I also have a moderate preference of thinking over feeling. I like to sort through situations and decisions logically and consistently, and I often notice when other people do not work this way. Because of this, I sometimes seem indifferent, whether I am or not. Pride can take hold of this tendency as well. It is easy for me to assume I am right because my opinion seems logical. I usually prefer judging to perceiving. I like situations to be marked by decision and my responsibilities to be clear. I like to be prepared for deadlines and expectations, and being late bothers me. This mindset can be an asset, as order and planning are beneficial, but I have also discovered that it can encourage a propensity to be impatient and to avoid risks. This can be damaging spiritually when I am unwilling to sacrifice my specially planned time for God or others. God …show more content…
He can use my personality and strengths through the Spiritual gifts or opportunities He gives through His Holy Spirit. According to the spiritual gifts test, my spiritual strengths are "teaching, giving, and exhortation" (churchgrowth.org). I try to study my Bible consistently, and I am frequently under the Bible teaching of others, which could prepare me to then teach others. Having grown up in the ministry, I also see the importance of giving first hand, and am convicted by that responsibility, while over the past year, God has been teaching me the importance of exhorting and encouraging others to "love and to good works" (Hebrews 10:24 KJV). Teaching, giving, and exhortation are specific ways God could use who I am currently for the advancement of His glory and

I also like card games that require speed and pattern recognition, like peanuts and Egyptian war. I am very logic oriented, which is common for INTPs.…
