I really enjoyed watching the video. The purpose of John Sinnett 's was that he wanted his students to see that he was engaged just as the students were. From the video, we can see that John is very passionate about his kindergarten students. During his lesson, he gets down on the carpet on the same level as his student to make them feel engaged. This is something that is very important because students are so to teachers telling what to do. However, John decided to structure his class differently. He was on the children level so that the students can see that he was motivated about the lesson just like them. For me, I believe that John was doing the right thing by modeling the process. Students that are that young are not aware of how the writing process works. And that was what John did in his lesson. …show more content…
we can see from the video that he takes his students through a step-by-step process for writing, in which they begin with an illustration. I believe that this is perfect. Students in kindergarten are not really good spellers, therefore, if they draw out what they want to say it will help them. they students are simply drawing a picture and the picture is helping them help for their writing. That is what John did with his class. I like the way John structured his lesson because he was helping his students get their message down on paper. And that is one of the most important things. I also enjoyed how John was able to have all of the students listen to one another while they were sharing. Therefore, the purpose of his lesson was that he wanted his class to see the concept of listening, speaking, reading, and writing during a lesson. I believe that he was successful in doing these concepts in his lesson. There are several ways that a teacher help prepares their students for to write. One way that I have learned that as a teacher I can help prepare my students to write is having students talk about what they are about to write. From the video, it was seen that before many writing activities that students talk about their writing before they actually write it down. Talking before you write helps other students learn from their classmates. Some students might be too afraid to speak up and say that they do not have a topic to write about. But if they hear their classmates mention different topics it might help them pick their own topic to write about. This technique is that students are learning from one another rather than learning from the teacher all the time. Also, some students might feel more comfortable talking to other students rather than talking with the teacher. I want to make sure that my students are too able and this is one way that would help prepare my students to write. Another way that I feel will help my students to prepare to write is by having them plan out what they want to write. Having the students plan out what they want to will help the students because they will know what they want to put down on paper.
