Desired Results-- learning objectives:
Mr. Hossack not only posted the class objectives on the board, he discussed them with the class and made sure they understood the vocabulary used in the objective as well as what learning outcome to expect. The students were clearly accustomed to discussing the objectives before beginning the activities.
Assessment Evidence
Mr. Hossack used both formal and informal methods of assessment. He was able to tell throughout the activities how the students were doing by looking at their annotations and what they wrote for the “gist” of each section. He was able to tell from the “Post-It” exercise how well each child justifies the connection of a detail to the main idea. Lastly, the “debrief” discussion session revealed whether the children were able to identify the main idea and connect details to it. …show more content…
