First, let me apologize for quitting the court and walking out during the hearing. I should not have acted that way. I pray that God forgives me for such a terrible thing. I know your reputation as a judge, and it is an empowering one. I understand your signature has put almost four hundred people in jail and caused seventy-two people to be hanged. However, I would like for you to consider your decision of condemning these people because of these teenage girls.

Although the change may be sudden, it is expected based on the story’s events. Some dynamic characters learn a lesson, like Eddie did in The Five People You Meet in Heaven. Some develop a new philosophical understanding of the world, some become rebellious, and some find aspects of their own personality that they didn’t know were there. In the end of The Crucible Arthur Miller leaves his character John Proctor with what seems like an impossible decision. He has to choose between saving himself by admitting to witchcraft, or pleading innocent and facing certain death. In the end he chooses the later of the two, a task that was by no means simple. While it would not have been the right decision for every type of person for a man who so highly regards honestly and who is as prideful as Proctor is, the only decision that could have been right for him was to stick to the truth and accept the consequences that follow.…

Some reasons as to why John Proctor and Abigail Williams could’ve ended the whole situation is John would have not committed adultery in the first place which would’ve ended with Abigail Williams not performing witchcraft and drinking bloody joust so she can be with John Proctor. As stated in “The Crucible” Act 3, “I have lusted but for her, she is a whore, for she wishes to dance with me on my wife’s grave.” John Proctor says. He is clearly confessing he has committed adultery and he regrets it and he knows for a fact that if he hadn’t of had an affair with Abigail Williams then his wife wouldn’t be on trial for witchcraft and no one would’ve executed. Abigail knows for a fact that none of it would’ve happened.…

Reverend Hale and John Proctor Written in the 1950s, Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible delineates the situation of the McCarthyism conflicts in America while the plays’ events itself revolve around the Salem witchcraft trials of 1692. In the play, two major characters are Reverend Hale, an “expert on witches” sent to Salem for investigation, and John Proctor, a man known for his leadership and hard work. Proctor and Hale, other than both being Puritans, are alike in their actions and motives since they both see the depravity of the court and seek to protect people from it. What is a proctor? The Merriam-Webster dictionary (n.d.) defines a proctor as “one appointed to supervise students (as at an examination). ” I have not found specific information on why University of the People (UoPeople) requires proctors for some exams, however if I were to guess I believe that it would be mostly to prove the identity of the person taking the test. Since UoPeople is an all online university, there is no way of knowing who is actually attending the classes and learning the material. By requiring a proctor during key exams, the university is able to prove that the student that they believe is enrolled has at least attended and taken that particular exam.…
